Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bernard Pierce made national news for an extremely embarrassing play, but a head injury may have been the cause of the huge gaffe.
During the second quarter of the Jaguars 38-31 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pierce was seen on film turning to play a Buccaneers player, when he should have been attempting to make a tackle.
Pierce thought the Jaguars were returning the punt, when he actually was on the unit that punted the ball.
Now according to Big Cat Country, Jags head coach Gus Bradley sounded as if Pierce had suffered a concussion.
“It’s not a good play at all,” he said. “When I saw it I couldn’t believe it, but I know he’s in the concussion protocol. I know after the game he had concussion symptoms. That’s where I’ll leave it at that, the play itself if you watched it.”
When asked if Pierce suffered a concussion before the play, Bradley stated, “I don’t know. I imagine so.”
Bradley couldn’t state for sure, but he did verify Pierce joining the concussion protocol list.
“Yeah, I’m sure,” Bradley answered. “I mean he’s in the concussion protocol. It’s just unfortunate that he had those symptoms and that play happened.”
