It is being reported that a 43-year old Cowboys fan has passed away after being shot at the Cowboys vs Patriots game this past weekend. AT&T Stadium is one of the great sports stadiums today and the venue in itself is an attraction but some people can ruin the experience with showcases of pure stupidity.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office records show Richard Sells died Wednesday night at a Fort Worth hospital.
Authorities said he was shot Sunday during a fight at a parking lot tailgate party after the Cowboys lost to the New England Patriots.
Arlington police said 28-year-old Marvin Rodriguez pointed a gun at a man during a fight then shot Sells in the neck as Sells tried to break up another altercation.
Records show Rodriguez is jailed on charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bail has been set at $200,000.
Sadly, these type of stories seem to be occurring at an alarming rate. These sporting teams want games to be family friendly but at some point it’ll be hard to coax families out of their homes to be around large groups of drunk and testosterone pumped men.
The best goes out to the Sells family and to anyone else affected by the situation. We all love sports but make sure that you put your safety above your fandom when you attend these live sporting events.
