The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings are playing for at least a share of first place in the NFC North division this Sunday, as the Vikings are unexpectedly in the driver’s seat throughout the first 10 weeks of the regular season.
The Vikings currently lead the division at 7-2, riding a five-game winning streak while the Packers are 6-3 and have lost three consecutive games—the most alarming being an 18-16 loss to the lowly Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field last Sunday.
The Packers offense hasn’t been in sync as fans are usually accustomed to seeing, while the Vikings are one of the more well balanced teams in the NFL and have very few flaws, in any at all. However, the Vikings are facing a step-up in competition, as the Packers are the first team in six games the Vikings have played that are likely to earn a playoff spot. The Vikings winning streak has come against the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders.
Not to diminish a winning streak in the NFL, but an angry Aaron Rodgers and his Packers can flip the division narrative rather quickly.
On the secondary market, this week’s game has the most expensive Vikings tickets for the entire season according to TiqIQ.com. The average ticket price is $257.61 with a get-in price of $117 and for comparison’s sake, the second most expensive Vikings home game is against the Seattle Seahawks on December 6th and it has an average ticket price of $155.84 with a get-in price of $57.
As expected, secondary market ticket prices have been rising throughout the entire season. On September 1st, the average ticket price was $232.43 and by October 1st it was slightly higher at $240.50. By November 1st—by the point Vikings fans may have realized their team was for real—the average ticket price was up to $297.72 and reached a peak average price of $326.85 on November 10th. After a few days of staying around that price, it took a sharp decline after November 15th to the $257.61 average price recorded today.
Out-of-town fans trying to get to one of the more important games of the entire season can use Hipmunk.com for Minneapolis flights to get to the stadium in time for game day. Hipmunk has hotels near TCF Bank Stadium starting from $79 and are available to stay near the stadium throughout the weekend.
If the two teams stay one-game apart in the standings throughout the entire season, the division will be up for grabs on the last day of the regular season as the Vikings travel to Green Bay on January 3rd in Week 17.
