Breaking: @Canelo & @GGGBoxing make deal and as expected they each get interim bouts. If fight not finalized after that purse bids. #boxing

Here is the good news, they came to an agreement on a fight, but the bad news as you see on the tweet from Dan Rafael there are some stipulations.
The main one is they are both going to take spring fights. I am going to assume they will be soft touches, but in boxing it only takes one slip up to mess up a major upcoming fight. We see it all the time, upsets do happen.
Assuming they both win, they will fight in September on Mexican Independence Weekend probably in Vegas. It appears certain things will still have to be worked out like possible catch weights and money. If those aren’t worked out, they have agreed to a purse bid.
They really don’t want it to go to a purse bid because at that point it is totally possible a rogue promoter (like Al Haymon) can bid more than Golden Boy or K2 and have control of the fight.
Since they don’t want that, I assume they will get it done. Canelo gets to keep his belt and GGG gets his big fight, just a little later than we hope for, but better late than never.
So, cross your fingers nothing goes wrong.
