Apollo literally wouldn’t be rising from the grave like Jason Voorhees, but it is possible he could have a starring role in CREED 2.
How is that possible?
I’ll let Sly Stallone break it down for you.
“I know [Creed director Ryan Coogler] is probably going to be gone for a couple years,” Stallone says of the recent announcement that Coogler would be directing Marvel’s forthcoming Black Panther. “So there will be a quandary on: Do we work with another director and have Ryan produce, or do we wait?” Adding that the current climate for cinema revolves around “a diminishing time acceptance” of sequels, Stallone seems confident in two very different but equally promising possible paths for Creed 2.
“Think of The Godfather 2,” Stallone says, effectively bringing the hype to a new level. “That’s what [Coogler] was thinking of, which was kind of ambitious.” That ambition, of course, would include a full-on reunion with Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). Stallone recently enjoyed a bout of “play fighting” with Weathers, noting that the franchise staple appears to be “still in good shape.”
The Godfather II had parallel storylines going on throughout the movie. One was in the present and one was in the past. It seems they are suggesting that it is possible Apollo’s (and Adonis conception) fight before Drago could be explored.
I am down for that.
