Matt Forte has spent his entire career with the Bears, but his time in Chicago appears to be over. He was the subject of trade rumors all year long and now that his contract is expiring he is set to become a free agent this offseason. The Bears are still in the play to bring him back according to Forte. Adam Jahns had the quote:
“Everybody’s acting like it’s a going-away party, like a funeral or something. No decisions have been made.”
Chicago does have a crowded backfield with Jeremy Langford and Ka’Deem Carey still with the team and because of that, it makes sense for both sides to move on. Chicago lowers their overhead in the backfield while Forte gets paid and has the opportunity to help a team win a championship.
