Dana White isn’t a dismissing a McGregor-Mayweather fight, but instead he is using Mayweather-Pacquiao to explain why it likely never will happen.
While doing that, he makes a blatantly false statement.
He states that if Mayweather-Pacquiao fought in their prime they would have made more money than when they did in 2015.
That would be incorrect, when Mayweather-Pacquiao had agreed on everything back in late 2009 and early 2010 on a fight, the world was a different place.
The PPV would have been cheaper, the ticket sales would have been cheaper, the gate wouldn’t have been as big and the sponsors wouldn’t have put up so much money. Technology has advance and Mayweather in particular brand was so much stronger in 2015 than it was in 2010, it allowed them to break every single money record ever known to boxing.
That simply would not have happened if they fought in 2010. They would have broken records, but not like they did in 2015 when neither were in their prime.
