Ever since the Golden State Warriors ascended near the top of the NBA, teams across the association have attempted to orchestrate their team just like last year’s NBA champion.
However, it’s impossible to fully mimic a team that possesses the best shooter ever and another all-time great shooter in Klay Thompson.
Oh yeah, Golden State also has an all-star in Draymond Green and a 4-time scoring champion, in Kevin Durant.
There’s little doubt Durant will fit in perfectly in the Bay Area and when looking at Team USA, it’s clear they’ll be doing it by committee, exactly how the Warriors intend to play.
Last night, Team USA participated in their first exhibition contest against Argentina.
As expected, the USA squad won in blowout fashion to the tune of 111-74.
With a few more exhibition games to go, let’s go over some interesting things to look forward to as Team USA prepares to win another gold medal.
1. Ball movement
With Gregg Popovich next in line to take over as head coach for Team USA, it’s as if this unit is already showing ‘Spurs-like’ tendencies. In their exhibition opener, Team USA had an assist to turnover ratio of 24:11.
Kyrie Irving led the way with six dimes, while DeMar DeRozan was next with a surprising four assists.
With the top two players in the world, LeBron James and Steph Curry not playing this time around, don’t expect this unit to play hero ball.
