This was supposed to be a joyous occasion for Louisville students.
Lamar Jackson was the school’s first Heisman winner, but during the celebration things got out of hand.
At least two UofL students were shot early Sunday morning at off-campus housing near UofL.
Officers were called to the 1000 block of Manor Park Drive just before 2 a.m. That location is The Retreat at Louisville Cottage Apartments.
They found a man and a woman who had been shot. They were taken to University of Louisville Hospital.
A short time later, a man showed up at Jewish Hospital with a gunshot wound. Police determined he was also shot at The Retreat scene.
A neighbor living at The Retreat said the shooting happened during a gathering at one of the units. Jayvon Smith said students were celebrating Lamar Jackson’s Heisman Trophy win when people started knocking on his door, they were running around and saying someone was shooting.
The good news is all three are expected to survive.
The bad news is the cops have no suspects in the shootings. Please be safe out there.
