The Miami HEAT are still alive for a playoff spot, as they survive in overtime against the Cleveland Cavaliers by a score of 124-121. The HEAT were down by 15 points early on despite the absence of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, but fought back time and time again throughout the contest. The HEAT were down 11 heading into the fourth quarter, and a furious rally tied the game and eventually sent it into overtime.
The HEAT finally prevailed in overtime after surviving two 4-point plays and losing James Johnson to foul trouble. On the sideline, the usually reserved Coach Spoelstra was ripe with emotions throughout the game as he lived and died with every positive and negative play. At the end of regulation, the HEAT had a chance to win the game after stealing the ball, and Spoelstra allowed the play to continue instead of using a timeout. The play resulted in the HEAT not getting a shot up in time to beat the buzzer, and I asked Spoelstra about that decision in the post game press conference.
