We’ve all heard the expression,”If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. Well it looks like the Golden State Warriors are doing just that.
While Gregg Popovich has no problem expressing his thoughts on Zaza Pachulia and the foul that caused Kawhi Leonard to re-injure his left ankle. The Warriors are holding their tongue when it comes to the foul and Pop’s rant. A foul that Popovich deemed a ”dirty play” via social media. The ankle injury will put Leonard on the Spurs bench for Game 2 against the Warriors.
After the game players on both sides were asked about it, but had very little to say regarding the topic.
Draymond Green, David West and even Kawhi were approched about the play. Leonard says he doesn’t believe it was intentional just a accident that happened on a contested shot. Although Pop has no issue calling out Pachulia’s dirty playing style, Green and West will have no part in Popovich’s rant.
Draymond, the usually outspoken playful guy had nothing to say about Pop’s accusation. David West gave a quick statement, simply stating that Zaza “plays hard” but would not delve deeper on the topic.
Popovich also told reporters to ask David West about Pachulia’s playing style after his run in with him, while playing for the Mavs. After Draymonds comments on Kelly Olynyk being dirty, it’s obvious why the press thought to ask him if he agreed with Pop.
Although the GSW PR team did have to brief the players before their sit-down with the media, I’m pretty sure the over all goal is NOT to sir the pot so to say.
I guess we will have to see if the Warriors silent tactics work. Zaza did state that he did whatever he had to do, when it came to that play. But he did not intentionally try to hurt Leonard.
