Jerry Jones has made a statement and it is a very clear statement.
He won’t allow any of his players to protest against racism or police brutality during the anthem. Here is the statement via Jean-Jacques Taylor of NBC DFW.
Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said that if one of his players “disrespects” the flag during the national anthem, that player will not play.
“Under no circumstances will the Dallas Cowboys – I don’t care what happens – under no circumstances will we as an organization or as coaches and players not support and stand and recognize and honor the flag. Period.”
When I reported that Cowboys players had been threatened if they kneeled for the anthem I got some push back for that, but the reality is they have been and now it is out in the open for everyone to see.
Remember Trump called Jerry Jones personally several times and Jones was one of the main owners who wants actual punishment for players who kneel during anthem.
While I will never equate what is happening to NFL players to slavery, but conceptually it is very clear how owners only see them as disposable black bodies to make them billions.
