A Texas reporter found herself covering a live road-rage shooting as she and her cameraman were setting up to report on something else.
On assignment for ABC News 13 in Houston Eyewitness News reporter Erica Simon heard gunshots as she and her cameraman were setting up in a nearby parking lot as they heard gunshots rang out. As they exited their news van to determine the source of the gun shots, the duo discovered two men, guns drawn, on a busy street in an apparent road-rage incident. As the situation escalated both men began firing their weapons at each other and Simon’s camera man caught it all on tape.
“Literally, my photographer and I, once we heard those shots, we got out of the car to make sure it wasn’t a distance away and wasn’t super close to us. Turns out it was the latter, it was super close to us.”
As for the individuals involved with the shooting, both have been taken into custody not before injuring an incident bystander.
