Jessica Gallagher deserves at least a year or two in jail, but alas she is getting a slap on the wrist.
A Wayne County woman is facing charges after she accused a man of raping her because he would not give her a ride home.
Jessica R. Gallagher, 27, of Clyde on Sunday was charged with falsely reporting an incident, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. She initially told authorities that she was picked up by a man she met on a dating app, blindfolded, forced to a Wayne County residence and raped, deputies said.
Investigators said Gallagher later told them that she fabricated the encounter because she was angry at the man for refusing to give her a ride home.
Gallagher was arraigned in Galen Town Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,500 bond. She is scheduled to return to court on July 18.
False accusations only hurt the real victims.
