Laker Nation can relax. The world is at peace because Laker great Kobe Bryant fully endorses Lebron James joining the Los Angeles Lakers.
Monday on the Stephen A Smith Show, Bryant gave his thoughts on James joining the franchise. He stated that James will bring energy to the team, and his hard work ethic will accelerate the growth of the younger members of the team such as Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball.
It was truly refreshing to hear Bryant ruminate on his reaction to the signing, which was surprisingly pure elation and joy.
When asked about the GOAT comparison, Bryant answered:
“I don’t like wasting my time on debates that people can’t definitively win. It just doesn’t make any sense to me, although it’s entertaining to have them.”
Bryant went on to state that he called James and told him, “Welcome to the family”, and is truly rooting for the success of James because he is a “die-hard Laker fan”. He said that the responsibility of the former Lakers is to welcome new players with open arms and support, and that he’s willing to do “anything to help ‘Bron bring a championship to the Lakers”.
From a pure analytical perspective, Bryant stated “the true test will come on the defensive end of the floor” and praised James for his historically great defense, which presumably will galvanize the other players to play.
This is going to be a weird and beautiful basketball season.
