Cameron Terrell’s story will make you shake your head and is an even clearer example of white privilege being undoubtedly true. The 18-year-old white teen recently join the Crips and has been acquitted of the charges of this drive-by shooting after it was revealed that he comes from a wealthy family in Palos Verdes Estates, California.
This isn’t exactly Malibu’s Most Wanted but it’s surely close enough. According to VladTv, Cameron Terrell’s defense team argued the fact that Terrell didn’t know that he was going to a drive-by and instead, thought they were going to do graffiti. In other words, Terrell should be naming his first born after his lawyer.
Prosecutors argued that Terrell joined the Rollin’ 90s Neighborhood Crips and drove two teenaged fellow gang members to a rival territory, where they approached Justin Holmes, a non-gang affiliated U-Haul worker, and shot him dead. Terrell was arrested in connection with the murder after surveillance showed the two teen shooters jumping in the back of a black Mercedes Benz registered to Terrell’s father. Several days after being arrested, Terrell was released on $5 million bond.
The teen’s lawyer Jovan Blacknell argued that Terrell wasn’t aware that the other teens were planning to kill someone the day of Holmes’ murder, adding that Terrell thought they were going to do some graffiti. Blacknell added, “At best, the evidence suggests that Cameron was a witness, and that’s it.”
What’s even more despicable is his reaction to the death.
“Rest in peace, Justin Holmes, you shouldn’t have gone that day.[…] I pray for his family every night. This has been weighing on me every single day of my life. I don’t have to explain myself to anyone. God knows what really happened that day, and God knows what was in my head that day.”
Terrell is off to college while the other teens who are accused of murder are awaiting trial.
