The Seattle Seahawks are on the clock….no not for the draft, Russell Wilson’s new contract.
Russell Wilson is due for a new deal and he’s given the Seahawks an extension to get it done. The deadline date? April 15th, doesn’t seem so significant right? Until you look at the calendar and see that the deadline is smack dab on the start of phase one of Seattle’s offseason workouts.
Sounds like some trouble.
Especially when the deadline wasn’t announced out of nowhere by Wilson, the Seahawks have known about it since January.
Seattle QB Russell Wilson and his camp gave the April 15 deadline for a new deal to the Seahawks in January, per source. This did not sneak up on the Seahawks.

I don’t know, but man it sounds like this relationship needs some mediation. This deadline given all the way back in January sounds like an ultimatum from Russell Wilson. Give him the money he deserves or you don’t get to have these discussions until free agency begins. Even then, who says both parties can even talk face to face? Who knows in the world of negotiations. All I know is that if there’s no deal done before this deadline, those Russell Wilson to the New York Giants rumors will heat up like popcorn in a skillet.
Here’s to free agency and all the exciting drama that comes with it!
