The ’40 Yards Of Gold’ was a competition designed to find the fastest man in the NFL.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin won the competition in which 16 competitors were vying for a $1 million cash prize.
It appears the participants in the competition have not been paid, including Goodwin.
One of the competitors, Jeff Badet, a Minnesota Vikings receiver, who was supposed to be $25,000, has not been paid as of yet either.
In fact players were given checks the night of the event, but were told not cash them until a later date. Then later the players were told to provide bank account numbers where they were to receive wire transfers.
Apparently, that hasn’t happened either.
This according to Pro Football Talk.
Charles Stewart, the co-founder of the event, said that the participants would be paid, but hasn’t provided explanation why the participants haven’t been paid as of yet.
Regardless, it appears that something is going on and these players, especially Goodwin want their money.
Hopefully for each of the competitors, they were not part of a large scam.
Only time will tell.
