Yesterday was adventurous for the Cincinnati Reds, Yasiel Puig in particular. Not only did they lose badly to the pirates 11-4, pitcher Amir Garrett tried to fight the whole Pirates dugout in the top of the 9th inning. Which we covered in an earlier post. Puig came to his teammate defense and was ejected along with 8 other players.
While the skirmish was newsworthy, the Reds continued to make headlines. Right after the game they traded away Puig to The Cleveland Indians in exchange for Trevor Bauer (who just tossed the ball out the park after giving up the lead), in a three-team deal involving the San Diego Padres.
Some say maybe the fight had something to do with Puig being traded. But others around the league say Puig was already being dangled in trade talks before this incident.
