Sometimes it isn’t what you do, it is where you do it.
If Myles Garrett did this during a Sunday afternoon slate of games, it is still likely suspended but not the current banishment they have given him.
When this happened in the past during a random preseason game, this is how the NFL reacted.
The NFL will suspend Texans defensive end Antonio Smith for one regular-season game and Houston’s remaining two preseason games for forcibly removing the helmet of Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito and then dangerously swinging it at his face, a league source told ESPN.
The video will show a very similar situation to Garrett and Rudolph. Incognito appears to initiate the fight and Smith loses his cool and swings helmet into Incognito’s face.
It was just bad timing for Garrett. If this happens Sunday and not Thursday he likely would still be playing this season.
