Bill Polian maybe unknowingly revealed that he wants his QBs to be Tall white and immobile if you aren’t like that then he feels you should be a wide receiver.
It is stereotypical rhetoric and it makes you wonder why ESPN would even put him on air to say such garbage, but alas it helped drive ratings I supposed.
Polian would never say that about a white athletic QB and had a totally different evaluation of Josh Allen who like Jackson can still struggle in the passing game at times, but uses his legs to be effective.
He apologized for being so far off with Jackson via USA Today.
“I was wrong, because I used the old, traditional quarterback standard with him, which is clearly why John Harbaugh and Ozzie Newsome were more prescient than I was,” Polian told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday, referring to the Baltimore Ravens coach and former GM who drafted the explosive, multi-dimensional talent with the final pick in the first round in 2018.
Polian admits he didn’t project Jackson’s ability to redefine the quarterback position in a fashion that might have once been viewed as the ticket for Michael Vick.
“The definition has changed, no question,” Polian said. “What he’s doing is amazing.”
We are still waiting for Mel Kiper’s apology, but that likely isn’t coming.
