Oakland Athletics bench coach Ryan Christenson doesn’t deny using a NAZI salute.
His reason for doing it sounds a little shaky at best.
He basically is saying he knew what he was doing but in 2020 no one can take a joke.
Christenson can be seen on video with his arm stretched out at a 45-degree angle as players left the field and exchanged elbow bumps to celebrate the win. A’s relief pitcher Liam Hendriks stopped by Christenson and forced the coach’s arm down. Christenson then appears to do the salute again.
After the game, Christenson apologized and said that he did not intentionally make a Nazi salute.
“I made a mistake and will not deny it,” he said in a statement released by the team. “Today in the dugout, I greeted players with a gesture that was offensive. In the world today of COVID, I adapted our elbow bump, which we do after wins, to create some distance with the players.
That is a weird elbow bump and doesn’t explain why he did it a second time.
