Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler had a tremendous NBA season only to fall short in six games to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The superstar in his own right spoke on his personality after a difficult loss during his post-game interview.
“I’m a decent player. I think I grew in every aspect of the game so I can smile about that. The one thing I learned more is how fun it is to play with these guys. It really was fun watching all my young fellas grow, having vets come and showcase what they can still do,” Butler said.
“This is where I belong, this is what makes me smile and this is what makes me happy. I wish I could’ve done it for the city, I wish I could’ve done it for my teammates…for the organization.”
Butler capped off a remarkable playoff run sweeping the Indiana Pacers, eliminating the eastern conference favorite Milwaukee Bucks and defeating the Boston Celtics in Game 6. The gritty and tough player averaged 22 points, six rebounds and six assists throughout the 20 games played in the postseason.
Miami is a new home for Jimmy despite the great talent not delivering with former teams such as the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Butler struggled the entire night as the Lakers doubled the defensive forward who scored 12 points with seven assists in a 106-93 loss. This upcoming off-season will be a season for Butler to reflect on and figure out how he can elevate this young Miami team to get back to the biggest stage of them all.
