The James Harden saga seems like it will continue into the NBA season. The former MVP has asked for a trade but with this year and two more years after left on his contract, the team doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to ship him out.
He didn’t show up until a couple days after training camp started and wasn’t following any of the covid protocols the NBA had in place so if he becomes more disgruntled they might not have a choice but to send him out.
There are a few teams that could use his service like the Nuggets, Heat, Nets, and Clippers but according to NBA insider Marc Stein, if he is traded the most likely team that will acquire him will be the Sixers.
“As the NBA preseason begins tonight Philadelphia ranks as the most likely destination when the Rockets eventually reach the point of trading James Harden, league sources say,”
The Sixers would probably want to keep Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons in any trade but they might not have a choice but to give up one. The one they should part with should be Ben because him and Embiid don’t really work together and Harden and Embiid are a much better fit. They could also trade key pieces like Tobias Harris, Danny Green, Seth Curry, or Matisse Thybulle.
