BSO exclusively reported that Deshaun Watson was nowhere near Houston during the Texans’ home opener.
He was in Costa Rica celebrating his birthday with his long-time girlfriend, Jilly Anais. They were smooching it up and posting on Instagram while the Texans were beating up on the Jags.
Everyone is waiting to see if criminal charges are going to happen against Watson. There is a massive difference in civil and criminal cases in the eyes of the NFL in 2021. If there is a criminal charge, Watson will likely be shelved until that is taken care of via a plea deal or an innocent/guilty verdict.
If there are no criminal charges, the NFL will likely decide based on their investigation, and he could be ready to play sooner than later regardless of the status of the 22 massage civil cases.
AJ Perez of Front Office Sports is reporting that it is unlikely we will get a decision on criminal charges before the trade deadline of November 2nd.
What I found interesting is according to Perez and Pro Football Talk, the Dolphins are ready to risk it all on Watson before even knowing if criminal charges will be filed, but the problem is this. The Texans are paying Deshaun while he is hanging out in Costa Rica sipping on Margaritas, but the Dolphins would want him to play immediately, and that means the NFL would have to decide on his status as soon as the trade was completed.
According to reports, the Texans have already turned down three 1st round picks and three third-round picks for Watson. They are holding out for four first-round picks and two second-round picks.
This is a high price game of chess going on.
The outcome ranges from Watson leading a team to the Super Bowl this year to him in jail and his career being put on the shelf for at least two years.
Stay tuned.
