Damn AB.
For those of us who actually followed Adrien Broner when he was just a prospect, we know that he had more natural talent than almost any boxer of that time.
Unfortunately, you could see early there were some issues with discipline and vices with alcohol, drugs, and women.
Those three things have brought the careers of many men to a grinding halt.
The fact that AB has had multiple big money fights but is broke sadly says a lot, and there doesn’t appear that he will be making a comeback any time soon until he gets his legal situations straighten out.
According to Cleveland.com, a judge in Cleveland threw four division world champion Adrien Broner in jail for a probation violation.
During a Tuesday hearing, the judge determined that Broner failed to enroll in an alcohol treatment program as part of his court-ordered probation for assaulting a woman at a night club.
Broner’s legal troubles don’t end there. He has to appear at another hearing on October 26 in the same court, where another judge will decide whether to hold him in contempt for failing to cooperate with a civil lawsuit the woman filed against him. In that case, an arrest warrant was issued after Broner failed to show up for his deposition this summer, was absent at a contempt hearing and failed to cooperate with discovery orders.
The 32-year-old fighter was recently arrested in Kentucky over bench warrants in each case.
This all stems from an incident where a drunken Broner kissed a woman at a club without her consent back in 2018.
He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of assault and received probation but hasn’t followed through on the stipulations of the probation.
On top of that, the woman got a default $800k judgment against AB that he hasn’t paid. That has all led to multiple warrants being sent out for his arrest. He was eventually picked up in Kentucky.
No word on if or when he will be able to get out of jail.
