In No Time To Die, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
Daniel Craig is back for his fifth and final outing, bringing to a close a journey that has introduced the world to a new, modern Bond. For all his excellence in certain fields, Craig’s Bond is not infallible. He is not the hero of myth and legend; he has much to learn. Bond is a multifaceted hero, a man whose success is tempered by occasional failures. He is a mixture of the light and the dark; if he delivers a pithy one-liner, it is often shrouded in menace.”
When I spoke to Craig about his journey, I asked him what advice would he give his younger self about playing Bond since these movies have now spanned over 16 years.
He had a very interesting answer.
You know, I don’t think there’s much I could say. I think when I look back, and I think how naive and green I was. I think that was the best place to be, you know, I think if I’d learned a little more, it would have been terrifying because I mean who could know how big it would be or the experiences I was going to have. I think having an open mind back then and just thinking okay bring it on let’s see what’s going to happen, I think that was the best thing. I think I’d leave my younger self alone.
I asked Craig what his first reaction to seeing the film and the amazing chemistry between the cast was.
It cuts my job in half because they take, you know, they take the weight. We played together, we had fun and we watched the movie the other night in front of an audience at the Royal Albert Hall it was full we had the royal family there it was like a massive celebration. I couldn’t have been happier or prouder at all of those things that the audience reacted to.
No Time to Die will be released here in the states on October 8th, 2021.
