There are two schools of thought on this.
Some would say that fans will be fans, and the media will say whatever they want. Nothing will change that, and when you reply, you are just giving them more content to talk about.
If you genuinely believe they are trolling, then as the saying goes, don’t feed the trolls.
The second school of thought is that players are humans, and they should respond to criticism from fans and media.
Anthony Hitchens basically called the Chiefs fans broke, and their opinions don’t matter. Tyrann Mathieu called the fans toxic. These statements aren’t untrue, so some would say since they aren’t lying, why should they be silent?
Here is what Hitchens said in the IG comments.
These boys will never understand talk big on internet but want pics and autographs in person, haha .. me my family and kids’ family “that doesn’t exist yet” are set for life !!! Y’all keep trolling, put y’all phones down, and go get some money, BTW y’all opinions don’t matter!!
The Chiefs are struggling.
No one will blame Patrick Mahomes because of all the success and Super Bowl ring he has brought to the franchise. So. the defense is getting the brunt of the criticism.
It also should be pointed out that it is ok to critique anyone. In this particular case, Arrowhead Nation pointed out in their opinion that the Chiefs overspent for some defensive players and shouldn’t have drafted Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
It is a fair question, but it isn’t the players’ fault they got paid or drafted. Especially considering how NFL players get screwed all the time in contract negotiations.
What do you think about all this? Who do you think is right, and who do you think is wrong? Is the truth somewhere in the middle?
