I have to give credit to the Cavs fans.
If you are going to trash talk, you have to be cool enough to handle it when it comes back from the player. In this case, a couple of Cavs fans brought a sign saying LeBron got Kuzma his ring, and after Kuzma hit the game-winning three, he told them Cleveland ain’t sh*t without LeBron.
The Cavs fans were cool with it and had Kuzma autograph their sign.
This is the type of trash talk I love to see between players and fans. Nothing disrespectful, just funny and no hard feelings.
Kyle Kuzma hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 12 seconds left as the Washington Wizards scored the final five points in a 97-94 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.
Darius Garland missed an open 3 on Cleveland’s subsequent possession, and Corey Kispert made a layup with 0.7 seconds remaining for Washington. Garland’s desperation 70-footer at the buzzer was well off target.
“This is a character win,” Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. said. “Our execution late was outstanding and I have all the confidence in Kyle. The kid has been there before and he’s done it before.”
Kuzma scored 12 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter, including two 3-pointers in the final 26 seconds. Montrezl Harrell led the Wizards with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Bradley Beal had 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
“We had no business winning that game with the lack of energy we played with in the first 3 1/2 quarters,” said Kuzma, who was 4 of 5 beyond the arc in the fourth. “For us to pick up a win like that, it’s a big moral victory.”
The Cavs are playing well.
First time in a long time, they have looked like a team you just could walk over. It took some time, but they have some nice pieces in place. They aren’t at a championship level, but if they can stay healthy, maybe they can make a playoff run.
