The X-Men are coming, and the thing about mutants in Marvel Universe is there are a lot of them.
Not to get too deep in the comics, but Marvel has tried to cut down the number, and specifically, in the House of M, M-Day, and Decimation number storylines, many mutants were wiped out.
You might be familiar with this iconic comic book panel of Wanda Mazmoff, aks the Scarlett Witch.
Since this was a comic, it was mostly reversed in the Avengers vs. X-Men series when the Phoenix Force came back, but since that comic book series run, the actual number of mutants in the main Marvel Universe has varied.
It should be noted to be classified as a “Mutant,” you have to be born with a genetic trait called the X-gene. Let me explain why this is important in the MCU.
There are TECHNICALLY no mutants in the MCU (because Disney/Marvel didn’t have the rights). Some heroes have mutations after being exposed to outside stimuli (think Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain Marvel, etc.), but there are no outright mutants in the MCU.
So, my theory on how the MCU will introduce mutants will either be two ways. One way could be to say the “X-Gene” has been lying dormant in 1000s of people, and something activates it, OR they will use multiverse to merge universes. In the Spider-Man story “One More Day,” which is what “No Way Home” is based on, when Memphisto grants Peter’s wish for people not to know his identity, he just merges several universes where people didn’t know who Peter was Spider-Man, but that came with certain characters coming back at different time periods in their lives.
The same thing happened to Miles Morales in the comic books. At the end of the Secret Wars series, his Ultimate Universe just merged with Peter Parker’s Spider-Man’s 616 universe.
Those are just my theories, but I say that to say there are ways that an adult X-Men version of Storm could show up as Beyonce in the MCU.
Giant Freakin Robot has the story of how Beyonce wants in.
Eventually, the X-Men are going to be properly introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the moment, fans are waiting to see when and where that’s going to happen. Will Hugh Jackman storm into a scene as Wolverine? Will they recast the roles? Are they likely to make surprise appearances in another film, or will they be introduced in a project centered around their characters? Perhaps some of these decisions will be made based on opportunity, and now, Beyonce is certainly offering them one. Thanks to a trusted and proven inside source, Giant Freakin Robot has now learned that Beyonce told the head of Marvel, Kevin Feige, that she wants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Specifically, she told him that she wants to play Storm.
While Giant Freakin Robot’s source shared that Beyonce is actively pursuing a Marvel role and talking to Kevin Feige about her ambitions, we did not confirm what Kevin Feige said back to her about the opportunity.
