There has been a rash of home invasions in the Southern California arena this fall.
Also, the thugs have been doing something new as they will now stake out fancy restaurants and clubs then follow the person home where they try to carjack them before entering their residence.
It is not safe out here.
This is a terrible way to die for someone who has lived such a long and fruitful life.
Clarence Avant, a legendary music exec who was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, had a tragedy at home Tuesday night … a home invasion where his wife of 54 years — Jacqueline Avant — was shot and killed … TMZ has learned.
It happened in the Trousdale Estates … a high-end area neighboring Beverly Hills. Law enforcement tells TMZ, Beverly Hills PD got a call at 2:30 AM for a home invasion. The caller told the dispatcher someone had been shot. By the time they arrived, Jackie had already been rushed to a nearby hospital.
A family source tells us the people who broke into the house fired shots and hit Jackie. Clarence was home at the time. We do not know if he was hurt.
For years people believed if you lived in Beverly Hills and other high-end areas of California, you were safe from these types of crimes, but more often, we are seeing stalkers, and in this case, killers are able to get access to these homes.
The police seem to be useless because you rarely ever hear about an arrest. It is getting to the point that you will need armed security at all times to make sure you are secure in your house, just a regular security alarm won’t be enough.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the Avant family, just such a senseless way to die.
