Now, why would the Cardinals do this?
It looks like they were upset that Murray decided to take him off their social media, so they decided to let the chopper fly with everything they are pissed off about with Murray.
It is a lot, according to SI.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Murray asked out of the game near the end of the fourth quarter when it was clear Arizona was going to lose.
“The playoff game [in Los Angeles] a minute left, the game had been decided, backup Colt McCoy encouraged Murray to finish the game with his teammates,” Garafolo said. “A banged-up Murray said no, that’s it, I’m done.”
ESPN Chris Mortensen had, even more to say about the situation.
The odd vibe between the Cardinals and Kyler Murray is indeed alarming: Murray is described as self-centered, immature and finger pointer, per sources.
Murray is frustrated with franchise and was embarrassed by playoff loss to Rams and thinks he’s been framed as the scapegoat
Where’s it headed?
Despite the acrimony, the Cardinals expect things to calm down and Murray is their QB. Select veterans hope to reach Murray on how he handle adversity better.
Coach Kliff Kingsbury also is self-scouting where he can provide better alternatives for QB.
Murray is a bit of an odd guy, but he is extremely talented, and the Cardinals have become relevant because of him. Once De’Andre Hopkins went down, that really hurt the Cardinals, but they are a Super Bowl contender when they are all healthy.
We will see if they did anything contractually to make him feel a little more wanted and less like a scapegoat.
It doesn’t appear he will ever be a vocal leader, so the Cardinals will have to deal with that.
