Matthew Stafford was getting cooked for his reaction to Kelly Smiley falling off the stage during the Rams Super Bowl parade.
It appears Stafford says “oh my god” and quickly walks away while his wife, also named Kelly, looks in horror. Smiley broke her back and had to start up a GoFundMe to cover her medical expenses.
Kelly took a heavy fall off the stage while covering the event, and it landed her in the hospital with a fractured spine.
The funds raised by this gofundme will help cover Kelly’s growing medical expenses as well as replace the camera gear that was severely damaged due to her fall. Since Kelly is a working photographer, she needs this gear to help keep her working after fully recovering.
Kelly is loved by all who know her and is a well-respected individual in the photography community. Please consider donating to this gofundme to help Kelly hit the ground running after she heals up.
She already surpassed her goal of $30k, but it appears the Rams and Stafford realized this was a horrible PR look for them and have decided to chip in to make sure all her medical expenses are covered, according to TMZ Sports.
The Rams and Staffords released a joint statement on Thursday … saying they have been in constant contact with the photog.
“As we told Kelly, we will be covering all her hospital bills and replacing her cameras. We wish her a speedy recovery.”
It’s unclear what will happen to the GoFundMe set up for Kelly … as it quickly reached its goal. It’s currently at $41,000 and climbing.
It is the least Matthew Stafford could do, considering he left the woman lying on the ground without even trying to alert anyone about what had just happened.
