Oklahoma middle school teacher named Ivy Reneau is facing felony charges after allegedly sending n*ked photos and video to her 16-year-old male student “after telling him she’d ‘heard rumors that he liked her'”. So Ivy sent those images and a video based on some rumor? Really?
According to the Daily Mail, Ivy’s arrest warrant has been issued as she’s yet to be in custody. DM got the details;
Ivy Reneau, 28, is charged with using technology to engage in communication for sexual prurient interest with a minor and a warrant is out for her arrest.
The former Midwest City Middle School teacher has not yet been taken into custody. Oklahoma’s age of consent is 16, but adults in a position of authority can still be charged for having sexual relationships with children aged 18 and under.
New court documents filed in Oklahoma County District Court reveal that Reneau met the teen, who is a student in the district, at a soccer practice.
Reneau was an assistant soccer coach at the time ‘heard rumors that he liked her and wanted to watch her run,’ KFOR reported citing court documents.
Reneau allegedly then added the teen on Snapchat and sent him three or four nude photos and an inappropriate video which the teen showed to a few of his teammates, according to court records.
Social media expert Patrick Allmond told KFOR that social media users should assume any photos they send might as well be posted to a billboard for all to see – despite the notion that with Snapchat, the images theoretically disappear after a short time.
‘Oftentimes with young people and our teachers there’s an implied sense of trust,’ Allmond said. ‘One of the advantages of Snapchat has been that it’s very short, it’s very quick and then it disappears and theoretically, it’s gone forever.’
‘Before you hit send, you should assume that you might as well be taking that picture and posting it on a billboard on the side of, you know, Broadway Extension.’
There is even more to the story.
The student tried to extort Reneau.
The court records detail she sent “a picture of her topless,” another of her “posing in front of the mirror sideways with no clothes on and her breast was exposed along with her butt,” as well as an inappropriate video.
“It’s just never a good idea,” said Allmond. “Even when you think it’s temporary, it’s never a good idea to send anything like that over Snapchat.”
The student then allegedly asked the teacher to Cash App him money, threatening “he could ruin her career over the pictures.”
She ultimately sent him $120 in total, according to court documents.
