On the one hand, Patrick Beverley is correct.
Kevin Durant did hold up the market because teams didn’t want to make certain moves that might preclude them from trading for Durant. Is that KD’s fault? Not really, because this is something that happens almost every offseason with a superstar player. Until certain dominoes fall into place, the rest can’t follow.
Now that KD has decided to go back to the Nets, those dominoes can now flow freely.
“Steve Nash and I, together with Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai, met with Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman in Los Angeles yesterday. We have agreed to move forward with our partnership. We are focusing on basketball, with one collective goal in mind: build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn,” the press release from general manager Sean Marks read.
That didn’t stop Patrick Beverley from taking a shot at Kevin Durant for holding up the process only to decide he didn’t want to be traded.
Yal can sit and don’t say nothing but that ain’t cool. It’s dudes with families out here who haven’t got a job because of this KD shit. And to be on and off ain’t cool. Blessing Gang🙏🏾🏀
Beverley goes on to say that NBA owners are tired of star players being able to dictate where they want to go, even with years left on their contracts. According to Beverley, players like KD will make it harder on the next generation because they will have to deal with a stricter CBA in the future.
Durant decided to respond to Beverely in typical KD fashion on Twitter.
Whose side are you on in this debate? KD or Beverley? Solid points are being made on both sides, if we are being honest.
While figuring that out, flip the pages to see the back and forth between the two.
