COD got the details;
Police spoke to a Foot Locker loss prevention agent and a FedEx security specialist around 4:30 p.m. Monday (Oct. 3) about a possible embezzlement case.
Officers determined that Morris Jones, 40, of Eastpointe, had been stealing merchandise from Foot Locker instead of delivering it to the store. The loss prevention agent and the security officer said Jones was bringing the merchandise to his home.
Detectives searched Jones’ home on Courtland Avenue and found $96,000 worth of merchandise that belonged to Foot Locker, according to authorities.
Jones was taken into custody and arraigned at 38th District Court on charges of embezzlement and receiving and concealing stolen property.
He was issued a $25,000 personal bond and must wear a GPS tether, if released. A warrant was requested for a woman believed to have been an accomplice, police said.
Officials said Jones is cooperating with the investigation. Items were taken from his home as evidence, and the investigation is ongoing.
