Niyi Akin may not have been the biggest name in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but he certainly made an impression.
Sometimes, you only need a few minutes on screen to steal the entire show.
Akin plays David, a seemingly ordinary man who gets caught in the middle of some very extraordinary superhero chaos. His character is psychically “hijacked” by Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey, who uses him to taunt Tom Holland’s Spider-Man during a tense moment.
Yes, poor David basically gets turned into a human trolling device.
And somehow, audiences loved it.

Fans quickly noticed Akin’s performance and now, he’s all over the socials.
In response, Akin posted a series of behind-the-scenes images from Brand New Day on Instagram showcasing the actor in wire training and meeting Tom Holland.
Akin wrote, “Thank you so much for the love and support guys. I was just happy to be a part of it! I remember saying to my family ‘I hope I get to be in [Spider-Man] one day” WE THANK GOD, CAUSE IT HAPPENED. This a dream come true [your] friendly neighbourhood superfan.”
It is not every day that an actor gets to show up, cause a stir and leave audiences wanting more. Akin apparently made the most of his opportunity.
His character David does not exactly have the easiest day.
For now, Akin seems happy to enjoy the moment and thank the fans who helped turn his brief appearance into something memorable.
