Kyrie Irving Donates $40k to 93-Year-Old Josephine Wright to Help in The Fight to Keep Her Land

It is commonly known that Kyrie Irving is a champion for change, and while he isn’t making baskets at the Drew League, the Dallas Mavericks point guard has been speaking out against how the Black Community is treated.

The 31-year-old had earlier posted a memory of Muhammad Ali’s infamous request for the Black people in America to have its own state on Instagram. He didn’t want to live in a place where racism and unfair, unequal treatment were prevalent.

Irving added his opinion, saying that the move would be wise and would enable the neighbourhood to exercise more autonomy. Below, you can see his analysis of Ali’s ideas:

Irving has spoken out on behalf of his community before, which elevates him above the status of an athlete with an NBA title. He has consistently used social media as a platform to express his opinions and has been steadfast in his support, even when it hasn’t always gone his way.

This would undoubtedly give him a new perspective and even win him the respect of his followers, who have always valued his opinions on the Black community.

But even if Irving does eventually call it quits on his illustrious career, one thing is certain: he will continue to be a voice.

Kyrie Irving Volunteers in His Community

Kyrie Irving has always been one of the athletes doing good for his neighborhood and society in general, serving as a true example of how words spoken must be supported by deeds done.

The Dallas superstar recently gave a senior citizen from South Carolina a $40,000 donation.

As per Daily Mail US, “The Dallas Mavericks’ guard Kyrie Irving has donated $40,000 to a 93-year-old South Carolina woman in her legal battle to protect her family home from an encroaching developer,”

“Josephine Wright, a long-time resident of South Carolina’s picturesque Hilton Head Island, is being sued by Bailey Point Investment Group for allegedly blocking the developer’s progress on a 147-unit complex next to her property – a 1.8-acre plot that was first settled by escaped slaves and has remained in her family since the Civil War. Wright inherited the land in 2012 from her late husband.”
