50-year-old former boxer Oscar De La Hoya had a challenging career, mainly due to his access to wealth at an early age. De La Hoya has been accused of sexual harassment, he was reported to be addicted to drugs and alcohol and to have an alter ego due to some cross-dressing photos. The boxing legend denied all the accusations.
However, in a recent HBO documentary titled “The Golden Boy,” De La Hoya said he lied by denying the accusation. Hoya tackled all aspects of his life, including his rocky relationship with his kid and basically all the damage that was done in his prime. Hoya blamed a lot of the incident on his early access to wealth and claims the accusations are true.
According to the Daily Mail;
Oscar De La Hoya finally addresses the infamous photos of his crossdressing – when he was pictured in fishnet lingerie and high heels – during a raw two-part documentary about his life.
The Golden Boy, which is released on July 24 by HBO, tells the remarkable story of De La Hoya’s rise and fall in boxing.
The 50-year-old, now a promoter, became one of the most popular fighters of all time en route to winning Olympic gold and world titles in six weight classes.
But De La Hoya has also been dogged by scandal and substance abuse. He has faced accusations of sexual assault, while infamous photographs from his private life have made their way into the open.
‘The world fell in love with my story… but it was a lie,’ De La Hoya says in the documentary. ‘I’ve never told anybody what really happened.’
The Golden Boy hit the headlines in 2007, when photographs appeared of him in fishnets, a tutu and high heels.
They were released by Milana Dravnel, a model and ex-stripper.
For several years, De La Hoya insisted the photos were fake. But in 2011, the former boxer admitted they were real.
That is only one difficult subject that De La Hoya addresses in the upcoming show. He also touches on the difficulties of life in the spotlight.

‘There was nobody bigger, I was hanging out with beautiful women… I felt like a star,’ says the 50-year-old, who started boxing aged six and by 24 was making $20million a fight.
‘The golden left hook, the golden story. but the truth always comes out. I knew it would come back to haunt me.
De La Hoya adds: ‘Money changes everything… my dream became a nightmare.’
The Golden Boy’s professional career spanned 16 years and 45 fights. He won his first world title in 1994 and his final fight ended in a savage defeat by Manny Pacquiao in 2008.
Well, De La Hoya is pretty excited about the documentary as he claims details the darkest moments of his life, but we learn and continue to live, so he said he will continue to live instead of whining about his past.
De La Hoya says he paid a forensic scientist to tell people the photos were photoshop, but De La Hoya’s wife made him tell the truth because she was mad he cheated on her.
