As they continue to deal with the aftermath from Jonathan Taylor, it appears like the Indianapolis Colts are looking to add depth at the running back position.
The team worked out free agent tailback James Robinson at Monday’s practice, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

For the New York Giants, Robinson participated in three preseason games, logging a total of 74 yards on the ground. The team let him go late last month. He had previously committed to a two-year contract with the New England Patriots, but after a failed physical, he was let go in June.
Robinson’s availability is a major concern
Robinson played for the New York Jets for the second half of the 2022 season after spending two and a half seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his career, he has racked up 2,262 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground. He added 617 yards and five touchdowns in the receiving game, demonstrating his potential as a threat in the open field.
Due to his extensive history of injuries, his availability is his major criticism. In 2021, he sustained a serious Achilles injury. His career is currently on life support since the Patriots included a failed physical clause to his contract.
If top running back Jonathan Taylor is unavailable, the Colts appear to be a solid match. The dissatisfied star is on the physically unable to perform list and will miss at least the first four games of the season. However, his request for a trade and his resentment against team owner Jim Irsay make it unlikely that he would suit up for the team anytime soon.
