Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, has defended his remarks after a hot mic captured him saying he will return to action in “a few weeks.”
Before his team’s Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Rodgers was spotted cutting back and completing some deep throws. Following the game, he embraced safety Derwin James and was asked when he will return.
“Please give me a few weeks,” he answered.
Since then, Rodgers has clarified that he primarily meant this in fun and that it’s “unrealistic” to think he can recover from an Achilles injury this quickly. We had reported here how he was miraculously walking around after surgery.
"I've known Derwin James for a while and I have a lot of respect for him and his game..
It'd be nice to be back in a couple weeks but unfortunately that's not a realistic timeline"@AaronRodgers12 #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/W8ubdK9uft

During his regular Tuesday appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the seasoned quarterback mentioned that he and Derwin are under the same agency and that their friendship is excellent. He continued by saying he was only kidding and had no idea if what he said would be taken seriously.
When asked when he would be ready, he replied, “A few fortnights,” rather than “a few weeks.” If that proves to be true, McAfee’s calculations put that somewhere in December, which would still be pretty outstanding.
