A former NFL player who won a Super Bowl has been taken into custody for a number of unsettling offenses.
According to TMZ Sports, Derrick Ward was taken into custody on felony charges after he was allegedly involved in many robberies in the Los Angeles region.
He is charged with employing “force and fear” to rob multiple establishments, including petrol stations. Officers from the North Hollywood Division of the Los Angeles Police Department took the 43-year-old into custody on Monday at noon. He was charged on Monday night, and a $250,000 bail was established.

Although the New York Jets selected Ward in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft, Ward gained notoriety while playing with the New York Giants. The New England Patriots suffered their lone setback of the 2007 season when the Giants, who had won Super Bowl XLII, upset the odds and won the game. Ward was a part of that team.

His greatest performance came in the 2008 season, when he rushed for 215 yards and helped the Giants win 34-28 to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
After that, Ward would play for the Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring in 2012. In 93 NFL games, Ward amassed 2,628 yards of rushes in addition to 12 touchdowns.
