Aged just 25, Devin Haney has already cemented himself as an elite world champion titlist with wins in multiple weight classes without suffering any setbacks.
After running through the 135 lbs division as the undisputed lightweight champion, Devin Haney has also added the WBC Super Lightweight (140 lbs) strap under his name. In an active career of 31 wins and 0 losses, Haney’s in-ring victims are- George Kambosos Jr. (2X), Vasiliy Lomachenko, Regis Prograis, Jorge Linares amongst many others.
That said, ‘The Dream’ is already getting compared to some of the all-time greats in boxing. Retired world champion Carl Froch praised Devin Haney’s Prograis and paralleled his achievements with Floyd Mayweather and Roy Jones Jr.
Froch said, “Devin Haney really is a quality, class operator. He has got speed, movement, combination punching. He has got that speed that’s horrible. If you are in front of Devin Haney and trying to get to him, he is just hitting you with that jab, counter-punching, putting combinations together. His footwork, his reflexes, his head movement- it’s like He is in the Matrix.”
He added, “He is definitely in top ten now. He could be the next Floyd Mayweather. The world is his oyster.”
Carl Froch further compared Haney’s counterpunching to Roy Jones Jr’s fighting style, and predicted a great future for ‘The Dream’. Nevertheless, the super lightweight division is full of elite fighters and Haney shall have to keep proving his worth.

Who Should Devin Haney Fight Next?
Devin Haney shall mandatorily defend his WBC 140 lbs gold against Sandor Martin next. But boxing has seen the unraked fighters get a title shot over mandatory contenders on various occasions. That expands the possible opponents for Haney.
Ryan Garcia has been keen on facing Haney for several years. After getting knocked out by Gervonta Davis, ‘KingRY’ is no longer the undefeated prodigy. However, his will to test himself against the best hasn’t faded. While Teofimo Lopez and Rolando Romero are also the WBO and WBA champions at 140 lbs, Haney’s entry into the division has turned things interesting for the fans.
