Leon Edwards managed to defend his welterweight title against Colby Covington via decision in the main event of UFC 296. Following a full-length contest, ‘Rocky’ had his hands raised at the T-Mobile Arena with Donald Trump and many more celebr9tes in attendance.
In spite of fighting facing ‘Chaos’ Covington on his opponent’s turf in the USA, Leon Edwards did not let his rival enjoy any advantage. On the contrary, ‘Rocky’ did everything possible to outwork Covington.
Colby Covington had returned to the octagon since his last win over Jorge Masvidal in 2021. He had been inactive for a long time and the same was reflected during the fight. Colby Covington had his moments during the 12 mins battle. Nevertheless, it wasn’t enough to take the championship status. It is also reported that, Leon Edwards pocketed over $1 million from his victory against Colby Covington.
