Ian Garry isn’t willing to let go of UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland for nothing after the American fighter ridiculed Garry’s wife on public occasions. Although he is at 170 lbs right now, Garry has expressed his interest in facing 185 lbs titlist Strickland.
Sean Strickland several fighters from the professional combat community had gone after Ian Garry’s family, denouncing the age gap and several more private factors of their relationship. Meanwhile, Garry pulled out of UFC 296, justifying the action with his medical issues.
However, he seems to have recovered and is willing to get back into action. With Geoff Neal booked as his next for UFC 298, ‘The Future’ shed honest views on Sean Strickland.
In a chat with the MMA Hour, Ian Garry said, “Whether it’s this year or whether it’s next year I’d love Sean Strickland because any man or any person whoever talks or mentions me, my wife or my family in that way, I’m going to get my hands on them.”
“And in an ideal world towards the end of the year, I don’t think Sean Strickland is gonna be world champion anymore.”
“And I believe there’s absolutely an opportunity for me to step up the middleweight and give him a hiding and maybe, maybe I’ll beat him so bad that he’ll forget all that trauma from his childhood and he can thank me.”

Sean Strickland will return to action on January 20 when he headlines UFC 297 against Dricus Du Plessis. A month later, Ian Garry will fight in the undercard of UFC 298– Volkanovski vs Topuria.
Ian Garry- Should He Really Focus on Sean Strickland?
Trash-talking is quite common in the sport of MMA. Fighters breaking all sorts of moral codes to rant about their opponents’ personal lives and spaces are also not new. While it’s not supported by many people, the sport of combat has witnessed it all through out.
Ian Garry is s till riding the ladders of success and has appeared pretty good in his middleweight journey. Sean Strickland, meanwhile, has already become a champion and is at a higher weight class.
The two can potentially unleash a great matchup in the future. Given all the drama and history they share, Strickland vs Garry would be a good fight. But that’s a story for the future as Ian Garry should focus on grabbing the 170 lbs gold for now.
