Ryan Garcia was initially insisting on making his next fight against undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney, in what could have been a massive PPV thriller. However, he seems to have had a change in intentions.
‘KingRy’ has now targeted Ronaldo ‘Rolly’ Romero as his next opponent. Both Romero and Garcia have lost only once respectively as professionals. However, both of them have suffered those maiden defeats at the hands of Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
Ryan Garcia is yet to become a world champion and a fight against Devin Haney could have earned him that tag. Nevertheless, beating ‘The Dream’ in a boxing match would be extremely demanding. Per Ryan Garcia’s social media statement, he still wats to fight Devin Haney not just immediately.

‘KingRy’ wrote, “I’ve notified my team I’m going a different route. My intent now is to fight Rolando Romero. I pray my team backs me on this decision. Oscar make this fight happen. THATS THE MOVE. BIGGER FIGHT, BIGGER BUSINESS.”
He further stated, “After what happens to Rollies, the dev fight will be there and even bigger. Everyone critiquing now. Will end up seeing it was a better move. Plus he can go fight Richardson Hitchens. Go do your 30k PPV buys. I don’t need you dev you need me.”
Ryan Garcia is now getting mentored by Floyd Mayweather
Ryan Garcia is contractually signed by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. It is no secret to the boxing community that De La hoya and Floyd Mayweather were rivals while being active boxers. They even fought inside the ring which ended with Mayweather beating down the ‘Golden Boy’.
They don’t share a very healthy relationship to this day and are still competing as boxing promoters with their respective promotions as – the Mayweather Promotions and the Golden Boy Promotions. However, Ryan Garcia doesn’t hesitate to flaunt his bond with Floyd Mayweather.
He even defends ‘Money May’ against all the hate that he receives and verifies his legendary status. It remains to be seen whether Ryan Garcia and Floyd Mayweather would ever contractually pair up for the sport of boxing.
