While injuries are inevitable in the NBA, the Chicago Bulls have suffered a lot this year. The squad has had difficulty maintaining its health, from standout player Zach LaVine’s season-ending foot surgery to Patrick Williams’ knee strain sustained during the All-standout break. But experienced wingman DeMar DeRozan might be the one experiencing the most annoyance.
Absolute misfortune
There are other causes of injuries, including overtraining, poor conditioning, and unfortunate falls. However, it appears like DeRozan’s season-long poor luck has been the cause. He made the quip that the Bulls had to have either smashed a mirror or strolled past a black cat in order to sustain such a heavy casualty rate in an interview conducted following the team’s Wednesday practice.
“I don’t know if we walked past a black cat or broke a mirror,” DeRozan said.
“It’s nothing new. It sucks. Hopefully, Torrey gets back healthy soon. We just gotta go out there and work with what we’ve got.”
Craig, a forward who contributes significantly off the bench with his tough defense, relentless rebounding, and spot-up shooting, suffered a sprained knee over the All-Star break, forcing him to miss at least two weeks of action. This situation has left Chicago’s rotation completely disorganized, especially in light of Williams’s sluggish recuperation.
