Four years after Kobe Bryant’s sad death, the Winning Time team is working on a project about one of the biggest rivalries in American sports history and it has to do with Kobe’s feud with Shaquille O’Neal.
According to Winning Time executive producer and writer Rodney Barnes, he is working on a project that would “celebrate Kobe’s legacy” and show “the drama” on and off the court.
The series about the feud between Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neals’ feud is in the making! This is what Barnes had to say;
“I think there was some conversation shortly thereafter when the scuttlebutt was going around.
“We love this show. But right now, sort of trying to work out what happens in the future, whether there’s a future for this version of it or if there’s another version of it.
“A lot of the people that were a part of [the story] — Jerry West, even the end of Coach Riley, Jeannie Buss, Dr. Buss — there’s still a part of the story even into the Shaq Kobe years as well. So there is more story to tell, big time.
“And they were champions. They won a bunch of championships too. So there is a story there that’s connected to the Showtime Lakers well.”
Barnes feels that “especially with the significance of us not having Kobe with us anymore,” there is huge potential for a three-peat Lakers drama as it would be another way to “celebrate his legacy.”
He added, “The legacy of the Lakers, there’s so much story there that fits drama and the classic sense of the word that goes beyond sports.”
This is going to be one big-time series in the history of the NBA and fans cannot wait for this series to be out in the public domain.
