Cade Cunningham Smashes Scoring Record And Joins Elites Like LeBron James, Allen Iverson, Trae Young, Luka Doncic

Against the Nets on Thursday night, Cade Cunningham further enhanced his already stellar resume. Cade Cunningham, the previous number one overall pick, entered a historic category and joined elite company during Thursday night’s game between the Detroit Pistons and the Brooklyn Nets.

Cunningham moved up to sixth place in NBA history for the fastest player to reach 2,500 career points and 800 assists after he scored his 15th point against the Nets. That achievement was reached in just 128 games.

LeBron James, Allen Iverson, Trae Young, Luka Doncic, and the legendary Oscar Robertson are pictured first. Next on the list is the former number one pick of the Pistons.

Cunningham’s comeback from injuries

Although Cunningham’s accomplishment is undoubtedly remarkable, it is made much more intriguing by the fact that the young guard struggled with a number of noteworthy injuries during the early part of his career.

Cunningham played in just 64 games as a rookie, missing periods of action at times. He won Rookie of the Year thanks to his 17 points per game.

Nothing about his sophomore year went as planned. Cunningham was limited to just 12 games for the Pistons in the previous season due to an injury. Despite the limited sample size, Cunningham averaged 20 points per game, which did not help him much because year two was crucial for his NBA development.

On Thursday night, he had one of his finest performances against the Nets.
