In a Thursday afternoon hearing, Jackson Mahomes entered a plea of not guilty to one count of misdemeanor battery, according to Johnson County (Kansas) court records. Most likely, he will not go to jail.
The 23-year-old has amassed over a million TikTok fans. Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, is his older brother. Through video conference, the alleged social media influencer attended his sentencing session. By entering a plea, he is essentially accepting the judge’s guilty verdict without acknowledging any fault.
Mahomes received a sentence of six months of probation and 120 days in jail. The judge deferred the jail sentence, but it will revert if he violates the conditions of his probation.
The charges against Jackson Mahomes
Mahomes’ battery charge was one of several that resulted from an event that happened in February 2023 at Overland Park, Kansas’ Aspen’s Restaurant and Lounge. Mahomes was charged with forcing and excessively kissing the restaurant’s female owner, Aspen Vaughn. In addition, a male waiter, 19, said that Mahomes repeatedly shoved him, which ultimately resulted in Thursday’s punishment.
Mahomes was taken into custody on three charges of aggravated sexual battery and one charge of battery, four months after the restaurant incident. After being freed on a $100,000 bond, the eatery apparently closed in August of that year. The proprietor stated that she was experiencing a decline in sales and felt uneasy because of incidents involving damaged property and interactions she believed to be fan revenge.
Surveillance footage showed the encounter involving Mahomes and Vaughn, but the prosecution requested that the accusations of sexual battery be dismissed in January. When Vaughn, the purported victim, stated that her interaction with Mahomes was consensual, the judge dropped the charges against her. After allegedly admitting to lying to authorities, she declined to testify in court because her revised account contradicted both the video and her earlier statement to the police.
